Anya's Game
Scene 1
(A living room. PAPA seated roads a book His daughter,
ANYA enters, dropping her backpack to the floor.
Startled, PAPA looks up]
ANYA:
[Frowning, throws her arms up/Papa, I have such a
colossal amount of stress! I'm so worried that I can't
think. I don't have my class presentation ready, and it's
due tomorrow! I need to tell about a game that was
played before there were electronic games. It can't be
about a sport, and I don't want to write about
something boring. I want my presentation to be
extraordinary! But I haven't found the right game yet.
PAPA:
[Kindly amused] Well now, when I was growing up in
India, some of the games we played have been played
for thousands of years. We had a lot of fun.
