The sum of 3 consecutive odd integers is 288. What are the 3 integers?

I got 96 but that can’t be right because 96,98,100 isn’t it it should end in 288 so if you could can you also add an explanation?

Answer:

I wonder if they meant consecutive even integers, because I got 94, 96, and 98 when I solved.

Explanation:

Let x = the first odd integer

Let x +2 = the second odd integer

Let x + 4 = the third odd integer

x + (x +2) + (x +3) = 288 The parentheses are not needed. I just put them in to make the first, second and third number a little easier to see.

x + x+2 +x + 4 = 288 Combine like terms

3x + 6 = 288 Subtract 6 from both sides

3x = 282 Divide both sides by 3

x = 94

94, 96, 98

I wonder if they meant 2 consecutive even integers

Answer:

I think the question must be "The sum of 3 consecutive even integers is 288. What are the 3 integers? " If so the answer is 94,96,98.
