Executive, Legislative and Judicial is the three branches. The Legislative branch makes the laws and the Executive branch enforces them. Finally, the Judicial branch makes it so that they are carried out making sure that they are fairly applied.

There are checks and balances between the branches, they are made sure that one branch does not gain too much power and is meant to limit one another. It is done through somewhat transparency between branches and it is made so that a branch can sometimes deny what another is doing.
