Mix 0.5 cups of yellow and 2 cups of blue need help

I mean I'd you are just trying to add the amount of cups it is 2.5. otherwise I am so confused

You just add them together. Sense your mixing yellow and blue there's more blue then there is yellow but anyway you would add the blue 2.0 since it's just two cups and add 0.5 sense it just this amount of yellow together and you get 2.5 because combined together this is the total amount.
