Thanks to John O'Sullivan, Americans in the 1800's believed that Manifest Destiny was their "God Given Right" to be able to acquire new land. ... Although Americans did not acquire it fairly, the government was able to find loop holes in the Constitution that made it legal and justifiable to do so.
