Steve is an avid hunter and during a recent trip he was surprised to come upon a black bear outside his tent. Immediately, he felt his heart rate increase, he was breathing quickly and he began to sweat. He threw a forty pound stone to distract the bear and ran six miles to town before he looked back to see if the bear had followed him.

What part of Steve's nervous system helped him escape the bear?

What functions does this system perform?

Answer:

i) Steve's muscular power helped him.

The strongest part in the nervous system is Sympathetic. So, Steve the distracted the bear by this

part.

ii)It guides everyday activities such as waking up, automatic activities such as breathing and complex

processes such as thinking, reading,remembering

and feeling emotions. The nervous system controls our brain growth and development.

Therefore, this is the reason Steve felt nervous.

Hope it helps
