Justin B. thinks that the temperature lowering during the fall months is what causes the color of the leaves to change. He set up an experiment wherein he placed some plants in 80 degree rooms and some in 60 degree rooms. He then observed the color of the leaves for a total of 1 month. At the end of the month, Justin observed that 3/4 of the plants in the 60 degree temperature had been to change colors and only 1/4 of the plants in 80 degree temperature began to change colors. Identify the independent, dependent, and control variables. Please do quickly!!! This is due at 11:59 tonight!!!

Answer:

Independent Variable: The independent variable in this experiment is the temperature to which the plants were exposed. Justin manipulated this variable by placing some plants in 80-degree rooms and others in 60-degree rooms. Temperature is the factor that is intentionally changed or controlled in an experiment to observe its effect on the dependent variable.

Dependent Variable: The dependent variable is the color change of the leaves in the plants. It is the variable that Justin observed and measured as an outcome of the temperature conditions. In this case, it's whether or not the leaves changed color (yes or no) and to what extent (3/4 or 1/4). The dependent variable depends on the changes made to the independent variable.

Control Variable: In this experiment, there may be several control variables that need to be kept constant to ensure the validity of the results. These could include factors like the type of plants used, the amount of light they receive, the soil conditions, and the duration of exposure to temperature. Control variables are factors that are intentionally kept the same throughout the experiment to isolate the effect of the independent variable.

By manipulating the temperature (independent variable) and observing the color change in the leaves (dependent variable) while controlling other factors, Justin conducted an experiment to investigate the impact of temperature on the changing color of leaves during the fall months.
