When hydroiodic acid (HI) reacts with calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), it forms calcium iodide (CaI2) and water (H2O) as products. The balanced chemical equation for this reaction is:
2 HI + Ca(OH)2 → CaI2 + 2 H2O
