First you want to distribute the problems to it will turn into 2x-12=4x-24. Then you want to add 12 to both sides to cancel it out.

2x=4x-12

Now you add 4x to the side with 2x which makes the 4x negative.

2x-4x=12

2x-4x=-2x

-2x=-12

divide -2 on both sides to get

x=6

There is only one answer x=6
