Step-by-step explanation:
original fraction is x/x+5
add 3 to numerator and minus 1 from denominator:
x+3 / x+5-1
this equals to 6/7
therefore x=3 since 3+3=6 and 3+5-1=7
back to og fraction:
x / x+5 = 3 / 3+5
3 / 8
