Simplified Equation: 2 1/6

First, write out BIDMAS (Brackets, Indices, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) and solve the problem in the order of it.

So, Brackets come first in BIDMAS, so we need to solve everything that is in brackets first.

13/8 x 12/13 = 1 1/2

-4/9 = 3/-2 = 2/3

New equation to simplify:

1 1/2 + 2/3

Add the fractions.

1 1/2 + 2/3

= 2 1/6

Simplified Equation: 2 1/6

Answer:

(13)/(6), 2(1)/(6)

Explanation:

The original equation:

((13)/(8) * (12)/(13)) + ((-4)/(9) * (3)/(-2))

The 13's can cancel, leaving
(12)/(8), or
(3)/(2).

For the second half, the -4 and -2 cancel out to be 2 and 1. The 3 and 9 cancel to be 1 and 3. So, we have:
(2)/(3)

=
(3)/(2) + (2)/(3)

=
(9)/(6) + (4)/(6)

=
(13)/(6) or
2(1)/(6)
