The formula for the cost of a taxi journey is

C = 2M +5
where M is the number of mile stravelled.

How much would it cost for a journey of 6 miles?

Replace each copy of M with 6. Then use PEMDAS to simplify.

C = 2M+5

C = 2*6 + 5

C = 12 + 5

C = 17

Answer: It costs 17 dollars to travel 6 miles.
