Explanation:

We are already given the equation for P(t).

But, t is not equal to 1900. t is equal to the number of years SINCE 1800. Since 1900 is 100 years since 1800, we are trying to find P(100). From there, you simply substitute 100 with the variable t in your calculator.

19.71/(1 + 61.22e^(-0.03513 * 100))

Make sure to put parenthesis when calculating.

If you have a graphing calculator, these kind of equations are easier to type on there.

Regardless, you should get an answer of 6.977 from the calculator.
