Answer:

x = 4 \\ y = - 3

Explanation:

1. \: 6x + 4y = 12 \\ 2x + 3y = - 1 \\ \\ 2. \: 6x + 4y = 12 \\ 6x + 9y = - 3 \\ \\ 3. \: - 5y = 15 \\ 4. \: y = - 3 \\ 5. \: 6x + 4 * - 3 = 12 \\ 6. \: x = 4 \\ 7. \: x = 4 \\ y = - 3

Answer:

(4, - 3 )

Explanation:

3x + 2y = 6 → (1)

2x + 3y = - 1 → (2)

multiplying (1) by - 2 and (2) by 3 , then adding will eliminate x

- 6x - 4y = - 12 → (3)

6x + 9y = - 3 → (4)

add (3) and (4) term by term to eliminate x

(- 6x + 6x) + (- 4y + 9y) = - 12 - 3

0 + 5y = - 15

5y = - 15 ( divide both sides by 5 )

y = - 3

substitute y = - 3 into either of the 2 original equations and solve for x

substituting into (1)

3x + 2(- 3) = 6

3x - 6 = 6 ( add 6 to both sides )

3x = 12 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 4

solution is (4, - 3 )
