Jim got a cell phone plan that had $120 in setup fees and costs and then cost him $35 a month. This plan could
be modeled by the equation: f(x) = 35x + 120 where x equals months and f(x) represents how much money
was spent.
Use the equation to fill in the table below.
X-(months)
F(x)-($ spent)
0
155
1
190
2
225
3
260
4
295
330
How much money will Jim have spent on his cell phone plan after 1 year (12 months)? Defend your answer with
mathematics.

Answer:

575$

Explanation:

So we know the function is f(x)=35x+120 so we use that to find our answer.

Though theres a trick to it, it says how much money is spent in 12 months, but our table starts from 0 months.

The table states the variable X represents the momths and f(x) represents the money spent.

So the (35x) - x variable will be the number of months we need to look for which is 12. But since we start at 0, it will be shifted to 13 since 0 is an extra number.

Our equation now is f(x)= 35 (13) + 120

We need to find f(x) which is now simple: 35 x 13 is 455, plus 120 is 575.

f(x)= $575

Jim spent 575$
