Answer: 5 ft

Explanation:

Area = 100 sq. ft

Length = x + 15ft

Width = x

Area of rectangle= L x W

100= (x + 15) x X

100= X^2 + 15x

X^2 + 15x -100 = 0

X^2 +20x - 5x - 100 = 0

x(x +20) - 5(x +20) = 0

(x+20)(x-5)= 0

solving for x:

x+20 = 0

x= -20

or

x-5 = 0

x = 5

Since width cannot be negative, the width is 5 feet
