I thought UB = 8, but the study guide says it is 12?

in a parallelogram the diagonals bisect each other , then

UB =
(1)/(2) US , that is

x + 4 =
(1)/(2) (4x - 8) = 2x - 4 ( subtract x from both sides )

4 = x - 4 ( add 4 to both sides )

8 = x

Then

UB - x + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12
