Don Pedro the second was last last monarch of the Empire of Brazil. He reigned for 58 years. He was born Dec 2nd, 1825 in Paço de São Cristóvão, Brazil and died Dec 5th, 1891 in Paris, France. He guarded his country’s sovereignty in disputes with Great Britain and the USA. He also led Brazil into the War of the Triple Alliance against Paraguay. He helped gain new prestige and land for Brazil.

Dom Pedro II, nicknamed the Magnanimous, was the second and last monarch of the Empire of Brazil, reigning for over 58 years. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, the seventh child of Emperor Dom Pedro I of Brazil and Empress Dona Maria Leopoldina and thus a member of the Brazilian branch of the House of Braganza. Died December 5,1891 and born December 2 1825
