What was the approximate change in CO2 level from the year 1000 to the year 2000

  1. Answer: They were about 270ppm. Much as they were before the industrial revolution.
  2. Explanation: They have been in the 200–280 range for the last 800,000 years. Now 5 million years ago they were 1000 ppm but kind of irrelevant.
  3. The actually issue isn't really the CO2 level so much as the rapid rate of change. From 270–405 in the 300 years since the start of the industrial revolution is an unheard of rate of change which doesn't give flora and fauna the opportunity to adapt and evolve into new environmental niches as they occur.
  4. Basically evolution happens over 10s of thousands of years as does natural climate change. Humans modify the rate of change which is problematic.
  5. Despite all that I would say plastic pollution is still a bigger threat. (this is my opinion)
