\textit{axis of symmetry} \\\\ y=\stackrel{\stackrel{a}{\downarrow }}{1}x^2\stackrel{\stackrel{b}{\downarrow }}{+4}x\stackrel{\stackrel{c}{\downarrow }}{+3} \qquad \qquad -\cfrac{ b}{2 a}\qquad \implies x=-\cfrac{ 4}{2(1)}=-2

when the leading term's coefficient is negative in a quadratic, the parabola is going down, when is positive, is going up, in this case for this equation, the leading term's coefficient is positive, so the parabola should be going UP, not down, as we can see from above, the negative sign was missed from getting the axis of symmetry.
