Describe the life of Aesop. What was his background, and how did he come to be known for his fables?

If you don’t know the story than here it is:

Sometime during the years 620 B.C.to 560 B.C., there lived a Greek enslaved person named Aesop. Not much is known about his life, except that his wisdom and education gained him his freedom. As a free man, Aesop served the famous King Croesus of Lydia as a great teacher. In his important position, Aesop used fables to teach others how to live good lives. Though many people respected Aesop as a wise teacher, some people refused to accept Aesop's teachings and finally grew so angry that they put him to death. Aesop's name and his fables, though, have lived on. Great teachers throughout the last 2500 years have mentioned Aesop in their writings, praising him for his wisdom. Some writers even rewrote his fables into poems.
