1. I believe that it symbolizes tragedy since bombings are frequently tragic events because they destroy things and locations. So, based on the image, I'm going to assume that the bomb destroyed a lot and that many people are upset about it.

2. All the Japanese were eventually taken to concentration camps, and everyone with a Japanese gene was also sent there, much to the Americans' chagrin.

answer to question 2: the Americans were not happy at all and ended up sending all the Japanese to concentration camps and if someone had a Japanese gene they would be sent to the camp too.
