Mountain Trees Nursery has a great selection of trees for every yard. The nursery was busy last week delivering trees to local customers. The table below shows the number of trees that were transported in each delivery.

Number of trees Number of deliveries
1–2 2
3–4 3
5–6 4
7–8 2
9–10 1
Based on the data, estimate how many of the next 20 deliveries will transport more than 6 trees.
If necessary, round your answer to the nearest whole number.

We can estimate the number of deliveries that will transport more than 6 trees by calculating the proportion of deliveries that fall within that range and applying it to the next 20 deliveries.

From the table, we see that there were a total of 12 deliveries that transported more than 6 trees (4 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 3). Out of a total of 12 deliveries, 4 had 5-6 trees, which is close to the threshold of 6 trees.

So, we can estimate that around 1/3 of the deliveries will transport more than 6 trees (i.e., 8 out of 24 deliveries).

Therefore, we can estimate that around 8 out of the next 20 deliveries will transport more than 6 trees. Rounded to the nearest whole number, this would be 7.
