Does the point (1, 2) satisfy the equation y = x?

Answer : No it doesn't

We can obtain: by substituting x = 1 into the equation.

Since y = x y = 1, the equation now reads y = 1. However, we are aware that the point (1, 2) has a y-coordinate of 2, which is not the same as 1. As a result, the equation y = x is not satisfied by the points (1, 2).
