First find the area of the whole triangle:

= 1/2(24+6)(8)

= 1/2(30)(8)

= 120


Then, find the area of the triangle formed by dotted lines:

= 1/2(6)(8)

= 24


Subtract the two areas:

= 120 - 24

= 96
