In "Pancake Face" through "Cowboy's Response," Mother, Miss Washington, and the Cowboy offer Ha advice about school. Mother tells Ha that school is not about fun, and that she should work hard so that she can achieve a better life. Miss Washington tells Ha to use her brain and focus on her studies, reminding her that she is lucky to have the opportunity to attend school. The Cowboy advises Ha to be tough and to not let the bullies at school bring her down. In my opinion, Miss Washington offers the most sensible and helpful advice because she emphasizes the importance of education and encourages Ha to use her intelligence and focus on her studies, which will ultimately lead to a better future.
