let x= green beads and y=blue beads
5/8=x/y so cross multiply and 5y=8x
x+102=y because there are 102 more blue beads than green
use substitution for y
5(x+102)=8x
5x+510=8x
510=3x
x=170 y=272
check answer by dividing 170/272=5/8 and it is correct
