If 25.0 g of NH₃ and 36.7 g of O₂ react in the following reaction, what is the mass in grams of NO that will be formed?

4 NH₃ (g) + 5 O₂ (g) → 4 NO (g) + 6 H₂O (g)

4 x NH3

4 x 25 = 100g

5 O2 (g)

5 x O2

5 x 36.7 = 183.5g

Then you add both grams together.

100g + 183.5g = 283.5g

Then to get NO

Recall the reaction produce 4 NO (g)

So, you divide by 4 to get NO

283.5g of both 4 NH3 (g) + 5 O2 (g) produce 4 NO (g) + 6 H2O (g)

So to get NO, we divide by 4

283.5 (g)/4 = 4NO/4

70.875 (g) of NO was formed in the reaction.
