Answer: “African unicorn”

Explanation: The African unicorn was believed to roam in the 18th and 19th century. Another name for this creature is Okapi. This no-longer cryptid was classified as a new species in 1901 by a British museum. Sir Harry Johnston found the skin and skeleton of an okapi and now it is just considered to be a forest giraffe, considering their closest relative the giraffe. I know this doesn’t really count though.
