ANSWERS:
A (rosas story) AND C (gina's story)
Step-by-step explanation:
What is an internal conflict? An internal conflict is the struggle occurring within a character's mind. So, to put this into an example, your friends want to go on the highest roller coaster with you, but you have a fear of heights and you don't want to tell them. You're internally suffering. Should you suffer but fit in, or be comfortable but miss out? (Better off just telling them, buddy.)
LETS GET ANALYZING!! :)
1. In the first paragraph, Rosa says that she must submit her book report. However, she hasn't completed it. She wants to finish it, but she also wants to go shopping with her friends. This is one of the examples of internal conflict. This is because Rosa is conflicted between two things. Should she hang with her friends and have fun even though she will get a bad grade, or should she miss out but be responsible with her homework? Going back up there to the definition, I do think this is "the struggle occurring within a character's mind." ✅
2. In the second paragraph Mitchell is late getting home due to a landslide. That's all there is to the story. Is Mitchell thinking about wether he should do one thing or the other? No. Mitchell doesn't have any internal conflict, he is just sitting in the traffic. If Mitchell WERE to have an internal conflict, it would probably sound a little more like this: Mitchell antsily looks out the window. He thought about walking home, because it wasn't too far away, but he doesn't want to leave his sister in the car." What should Mitchell dooooooo????? Unfortunately, it didn't say that, so we can mark this one wrong.
3. In the third paragraph, Gina received bad news from a medical test, and doesn't know whether she should a: throw it away, or b: tell her husband. This causes an internal conflict because she is struggling to make up her mind. So, this IS internal conflict. ✅
4. The fourth and fifth ones are just stories that have no conflict. It's like saying, "I ate cereal and then i went to school and then I learned." It's just an ongoing story with no conflict. If there were conflict though, it would be like "I ate cereal and was late for the bus. The thoughts of running after it and staying home pulled and played a game of tug a war." Internal conflict always proposes a question of: what should I do? What should she do? What will she do? Blah blah blah.
