You can try to have same denominator in all numbers to be able to multiply the right and left side by it and remove it

We can write it like this:

8/4 = -7/4 + 1/4 x

We multiply by four the two sides and get

8 = -7 + x

We can sum 7 to both sides

8 + 7 = x

x= 15

We can replace to see if it's correct

-7/4 + 1/4 * 15 = -7/4 + 15/4 = 8/4
