The value of y in the triangle is 4√3 ( option A)

Similar triangles are triangles with equal corresponding angles and equal corresponding side ratios.

Using similar triangles theorem

16/x = x/12

x² = 16 × 12

x² = 192

Using Pythagorean theorem

x² = 12² + y²

x² = 192

192 = 144 + y²

y² = 192 - 144

y² = 48

y = √48

y = √16 × √3

y = 4√3

Therefore the value of y is 4√3
