What is the difference between endothermic and exothermic reaction (shortest answer)

The easiest way to explain endo and exothermic reactions are that endothermic reactions absorb energy and exothermic reactions release energy.

The way I remember this is that with exothermic reactions, the heat exits. Endothermic is just the opposite.
