There are 92 coins split into 21 piles. Each pile has the same number of coins and as many coins

as possible. How many coins are in each pile?

Answer:

4 coins per pile

Explanation:

21 piles of 4 coins = 84 coins

21 piles of 5 coins = 110 coins

We have 92 coins. We cannot put 5 coins in 21 piles bc that would require 110 coins.


So the answer is 4 coins per pile (and yes, there are 8 unused coins).
