During the stock market crash of 1929:

many banks had purchased too many stocks and not retained enough cash.

many banks had purchased too few stocks and had too much money in cash.

stock brokers made a lot of money because of the sales of stocks.

unemployment was 25% in the United States.

(I think the top one is right, but I need a check from somebody, thanks.)
