which part of the eye is responsible for bending light rays so that light can be focused on the retina?

The cornea reflects the light rays into the eye. On the other hand, the lens bends and focuses them into the retina. In essence, cornea reflects light rays, and retina focuses them. So it’s either cornea or lens depending on what they mean by “bending”.
