How can we use dna sequence (order of nucleotides) to determine relatedness of organisms?

DNA sequence can be used to determine relatedness of organisms by comparing the sequence of nucleotides between two organisms. By comparing the sequence of nucleotides, scientists can determine how closely related two organisms are. The more similar the sequence of nucleotides, the more closely related the two organisms are.
