jeremy's average for 11 math tests is 80. His teacher announced that the students could eliminate any one of their test grades then recompute their average. Jeremy eliminated 30 on his first test. what is his average now?

Answer: His average is 85 now.

Explanation:

Average is the sum of all his math tests divided by the number of the math tests he took, so we get:


(sum )/(11)=80

sum = 11 x 80

sum = 880

880 - 30, we get 850, which becomes the new sum of the 10 math test scores, because he eliminated one test score.


(850)/(10) =85

His average is 85 now.
