What happens in the opening scene of Macbeth?

Answer:

Macbeth and Banquo, on their way to the kings Court at Forres, come upon the witches and shrink in horror at the sight of the old women. The witches hail Macbeth as thane of Glamis(his original title) and as thane of Condor. Macbeth is confused about the second title because he has never heard it.
