Explanation:

because of the fact that HJK is bisected by LJ, we know that LH and LK are equal. with that, we can equal 3y + 4 and 6y - 8.

3y + 4 = 6y - 8

3y + 12 = 6y

12 = 3y

y = 4

with that, we can now plug in 4 for y in 6y - 8.

6(4) - 8

24 - 8

16

Therefore, y = 4 and LH = 16.
