Answer:

In each sentence, underline the simple sentence which is the independent clause. An independent clause is a clause that can stand on its own. It has a subject and a verb and no subordinating clause.

You are then asked to highlight the coordinating conjunction which would be the word separating the two independent clauses in your sentences. Coordinating conjunctions are FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)
