With “speakeasies” there would be secret bars that would use passwords. These passwords were only found through word of mouth, then they could go into these speakeasies and get illegal alcohol

Answer:

The famous "speakeasies" of the 1920s allowed for citizens to still consumer alcohol, even during prohibition. Speakeasies were nightclubs of a sort featuring jazz music, flappers, and of course alcohol. Gangsters from this time, such as Al Capone, had a large hand in running these speakeasies.
