How did members of the Jewish faith factor into Roman population

There were very few members of the Jewish faith in the Roman population. The Roman Republic and Empire had a long history of interaction with the Jewish people. Having said this, the Jewish people had a distinct religious and cultural identity. Something their Roman neighbors didn’t have.
