That's the line made up of every point on Earth that's about 23.5 degrees south of
the equator.
It's the farthest south that the sun can ever be straight up over your head. That
happens there around December 21 every year ... the first day of Summer in the
southern hemisphere, and the first day of Winter in the northern one.
