The answer is 1.69 x 10^-1.

Scientific notation is the most used, simplest and easiest way to handle numbers that are very large or very small. That is why we use the exponent of 10. This means the number of places that the decimal points must be shifted in order to get to the long form of the number. A positive number tells us that the decimal point must be shifted to the right, and, correspondingly, a negative exponent moves the decimal point to the left - giving a smaller number. In this case, 169 literally divided by 1000 is 0.169, but in the exponent form it means 1,69 (169 divided by 100, to leave us with a whole number before the decimal point) and this multiplied by 10 with an exponent of minus one which equals 1/10, or 0.1. 1.69 multiplied by 0.1 is 0.169, the result of the equation.
