The Transcontinental Railroad was a continuous railroad line of 1,912 miles long that linked the United States from east to west. Its completion in 1869 allowed manufacturing companies, to transport their goods to different places and markets all over the nation in a cheaper, faster and safer way and this, consequently, contributed to companies' increase of profits and output.
