How is the difference 14/15 -5/12 written as a decimal

So,

To write fractions as decimals, we have to divide them.

(14)/(15) = 0.9 \overline{3}

(5)/(12) = 0.41 \overline{6}

If you want, you can subtract them.
0.93... - 0.416... = 0.51666...
