A student brings a specimen and claims it is a living organism. Explain how a microscope could be used to determine if the specimen is a living thing.

All living things are made out of cells, they are organized (systems like digestive systems in humans), they use energy and grow. Which, are all characteristics of life that can be seen through a microscope

Answer;

-The microscope could be used to see if the specimen has functioning cells and a metabolism.

Explanation;

-Living organisms such as humans which are multicellular organisms and amoeba which are unicellular are similar in that they maintain homeostasis, contain functioning cells, have a metabolism, and are able to reproduce among other characteristics. All these and other characteristics may be observed using a microscope.
