the location of the sun for instance if the sun is right above you it is 12:00 PM

The position of the sun. The closer it is to 12:00 pm (noon), the shorter or smaller the shadow. Shadows are on the opposite side of an object than the sun. That object is blocking the sun's rays from directly hitting whatever is on the opposite side of that object
