Vedic period is the name of the period during which the foundations for Hinduism were established. The Vedic period existed between the years 1500 BCE and 500 BCE. During this period the Holy book of the Hindus named Vedas was written. It is considered the oldest Hindu book to have been written. This was the period during which the Indo- Aryans were were settling in northern India and with them they also brought in their religious thoughts and conceptions. this was one way by which Hinduism started spreading around India.
